This position is an at- home daily driving position responsible for the safe transportation of fabricated parts and subassemblies between our facilities and outsource vendors. Reports to Chassis Yard Supervisor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Securing the load using straps, chains or other dunnage to assure freight arrives at destination damage free.
· Driving safely to and from outsource vendors.
· Follow the company policy regarding pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection.
· Ensure mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
· Comply with driving rules and regulations.
· Immediately report defects, accidents, and violations.
· Perform daily maintenance of truck (fuel, clean out cab, etc.)
· Communicating and Coordinating with Logistics Coordinator.
· Verifying load for accuracy and completeness.
· Loading and unloading trailer using forklift or crane as needed.
· Load shipouts and assist chassis yard staff with moving trucks.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Class A CDL with one year of verifiable experience.
· Ability to meet all DOT Class A driver requirements.
· Obeying and following applicable traffic laws.
· Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it on the trailer.
· Preforming pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and reporting any mechanical issues before driving.
Education and Experience:
· 1 year(s) Driving experience.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
· Able to work outside at all times throughout the year.
· Frequent bending, twisting, and raising arms above head.
· Use of ladder to climb on and off trailer.
