- Directly manage the controls engineering team, providing guidance and support to ensure success in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems.
- Oversee control system projects from inception to completion ensuring projects are completed efficiently.
- Drive innovation and product development initiatives to enhance the performance, reliability, and sustainability of garbage trucks.
- Overseeing the testing and validation of control systems to ensure they meet performance specifications, reliability standards, and safety requirements.
- Ensuring that control systems comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team in resolving complex technical issues and optimizing system performance.
- Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their technical skills.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand requirements, address concerns, and deliver high-quality control systems that meet or exceed expectations.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning within the controls team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred or related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of fabrication, assembly, and automotive related processes.
- Two years of experience in a leadership role required.
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and its use as a design tool.
- Proficient with computers and computer software including Microsoft Office products, data entry, and information processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a collaborative management style.
- Possess a deep understanding of control system design principles.
- Basic understanding of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Strong background of mathematics, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
- The ability to read and develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
- Problem-solving ability using analytical reasoning and creative thought processes.
